Hello!  I am Kristen Rask.  A maker, crafter, artist, craft author, entrepreneur, and community organizer best known for her contributions to the handmade and indie craft world. I have written 12 popular craft books—including titles like Plush You: Loveable Misfits to Sew and Stuff, Buttons and Stitch: Supercute ways to use your button stash, and creative kits such as Yummy Crochet, Amigurumi Crochet: Farm and Forest Animals, Peanuts Crochet and Woodland Crochet Kit—that showcase whimsical crochet projects and patterns for makers of all levels.

Beyond my writing, I have played pivotal roles in amplifying the maker movement as the co-owner and a longtime organizer of Urban Craft Uprising, one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest independent craft marketplaces. In my time with Urban Craft Uprising it has grown from a one show a year event into a thriving series of shows and community gatherings that connect small-scale artisans from across the country with large crowds of enthusiasts at their events in Washington and Oregon.
